Troy grew up in Missouri City, a suburb of Houston, Texas and moved with his family to Midland in the summer of 1980, where he attended and graduated from Midland High School. Troy met and married Debra while they completed their education at UTPB. Troy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and immediately began his coaching and teaching career. In the summer of 2000, Troy switched careers and started as an Investment Advisor with Edward Jones. In 2011, he joined Donald Ruppanner, CPA at HD Vest. Troy and Donald enjoyed steady growth, and in 2018 HD Vest became Avantax. Around that same time, Donald purchased assets from Stallings and Herm in Stanton, Texas. Then, in 2021, Donald formed Tactical Wealth Management in anticipation of Troy purchasing the firm in the very near future. In January 2023, upon Donald’s retirement, Troy purchased TWM. Currently, TWM – Midland is comprised of Troy, Keri Vaught, Ariana Bracamontes, and Jill Hawley. TWM also has a location in San Angelo where Janell Eckert, Samantha McIntyre, and Stephanie Eckert can be found near downtown on the Concho River.
Troy has been married to Debra, the Deputy Superintendent of Greenwood ISD, since June of 1987, and together they are the proud parents of their daughter, Kaitlan. Kaitlan is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. She is an Assistant District Attorney with the Midland County District Attorney’s office. When not at the office, Troy enjoys working out, travelling, and watching Houston Astros baseball and Greenwood Rangers football.
